Umps shorts are made from a fabric material that is made by spinning organic cotton into NEP yarn in Japan and then weaving it. A high level of skill is required to create a natural, rustic surface and to control the strength and weakness of the nap. Normally, it is mercerized to give it a clean surface, but in order to bring out the roughness of organic cotton, it is not mercerize and only apply degreasing and washer processing to give it a dry, natural texture. The design is based on the classic baseball uniform pants design, with an amplifier-shaped design that opens in the front with belt loops and large pockets.
